Marketplace in Florida

What to know about Florida Marketplace coverage for 2027.

Where to enrollHealthCare.gov

Florida uses HealthCare.gov, the federal Marketplace. Income-based tax credits are only available through the Marketplace. You can enroll on HealthCare.gov yourself or with a licensed agent like me, at no extra cost.

2027 Open EnrollmentNov 1, 2026 – Jan 15, 2027

Enroll by December 15 for coverage starting January 1. Enroll between December 16 and January 15 and coverage starts February 1. After that, you need a qualifying life event to enroll.

Tax credits100% to 400% of poverty level

For 2027, premium tax credits are generally available if your household income is between 100% and 400% of the federal poverty level. The extra help for incomes above 400% ended after 2025, and repayment limits no longer apply, so an accurate income estimate matters.

MedicaidNot expanded

Florida has not expanded Medicaid under the ACA. Many adults under 65 with low incomes don’t qualify for Medicaid, so if your household income is at least 100% of the federal poverty level, Marketplace tax credits are usually the way to lower your premium.

Questions

Common questions from Florida Marketplace shoppers.

Does it cost more to use an agent for Marketplace coverage in Florida?

No. My help is free. I’m paid by the insurance company you choose, and your premium is the same whether you enroll with me or on your own.

When can I enroll for 2027 coverage in Florida?

Open Enrollment for 2027 coverage runs November 1, 2026 through January 15, 2027 on HealthCare.gov. Enroll by December 15 for coverage that starts January 1. If you enroll between December 16 and January 15, coverage starts February 1.

Will I qualify for a tax credit?

For 2027, premium tax credits are generally available if your household income is between 100% and 400% of the federal poverty level and you can’t get affordable coverage through a job. The extra help for incomes above 400% ended after 2025. I’ll estimate your credit with you before you choose a plan.

What if I miss Open Enrollment?

You can still enroll if you have a qualifying life event, such as losing job-based coverage, moving, getting married or having a baby. You usually have 60 days from the event. Medicaid and CHIP accept applications year-round.

Florida didn’t expand Medicaid. What if my income is low?

If your household income is below 100% of the federal poverty level, you may not qualify for Medicaid or Marketplace tax credits in Florida. Children, pregnant women and some other groups have separate Medicaid rules. Call me and I’ll check what you qualify for.

What happens when I turn 65?

Marketplace coverage generally isn’t meant for people on Medicare. I’ll help you plan the switch to Medicare so there’s no gap in coverage, and you can work with me for both.
